It’s always a tad tricky finding a centrally located dining establishment that serves up restaurant-standard fare (read: not bile-churning precooked swill), and also allows furry companions. With pet-friendly eateries, you always expect something to give—usually the food—but Ricciotti Pizza Pasta Grill at Riverwalk excels on all counts. Its formula for success is simple. Ricciotti is first and foremost a restaurant, and one that is under the Garibaldi Group of Restaurants. The group also owns top Italian restaurant Garibaldi and popular French fine dining destination Gunther’s. With such impressive pedigree, Riccotti is clearly no novice in the dining scene. That it happens to have recently applied for the necessary licence permitting dogs on its premises is a happy coincidence. Ricciotti’s kitchen is helmed by executive chef Gero Dimaria who was born in the United Kingdom, but grew up in a traditional Italian family. He moved to Singapore in 1995, and worked in the kitchens of Pasta Fresca, Da Paolo, Senso and Porta Portese before joining Ricciotti in 2006.
PET-FRIENDLINESS: The outdoor area where dogs are allowed sits about 50. Request for seats further away from the kitchen, so that you don’t have to constantly pull Fido away from the passageway when wait staff emerge from the kitchen with piping hot dishes. Those with bigger hounds may find the space a little cramp. You’ll need to bring a water bowl for your dog, but the restaurant will be happy to fill it up for you.
PRICE: Prices are fairly reasonable, with antipasti and sides starting from $9 and mains averaging $25. You should be able to enjoy a decent meal for $50 or less.
